I have been a high school teacher for the past 6 years. When I decided to leave teaching after having my second child, I was not quite ready for the major transition required of me in order to go from interacting with 100+ people a day to only regularly interacting with 3 people throughout each day! I am a very social person so this transition is (I say is because I’m still dealing with it a year later) very difficult for me! I knew that I wanted to create some kind of way in which I could go back to the creating, planning, researching, and interacting that I was used to doing every day as a teacher, but on my own terms, and in a way that worked for being at home a majority of the time with my two sweet kids. My husband and I had made some pretty big sacrifices and changes financially in order to make it possible for me to stay at home with them so I didn’t want to give up that opportunity, but I knew I wanted to put all of my pent-up creative energy left over from teaching for 6 years into something new & fun!

While scrolling through Instagram, I saw an ad for a free 5-Day Start a Money Making Blog Crash Course. At first I was like no, I don’t think so, I won’t be successful at that, I won’t have time, (blah blah blah….insert any other excuses here), but then I decided that I could either sit around and talk about new ideas I had and how it would be fun, OR I could actually DO IT and start something new & fun and maybe make a little money!
Once I registered, I received a new email each day with a video & written content from Pete & Heather Reese of It’s a Lovely Life, with concise and helpful information that walked me through getting my blog set up! Honestly, I don’t know how I would’ve figured everything out without them! I also joined their Facebook Group (Info included in the crash course) which has been so helpful, and even though it is a very large group, they take time to respond to a lot of questions themselves and offer helpful advice. They have 12 years of experience and make $30,000+ a month, and travel 150 days a year with their family, just with their blog! Even with all of that experience and success, they are really down to earth and matter of fact which I love. So I trust their advice, they are encouraging and helpful, and I definitely recommend their free email course!

Once I finished the 5-Day Course, I found the content so straightforward, simple & helpful that I decided to go ahead and purchase their 30 Day Blogging Fast Track Course! This course is incredibly extensive, as a stay at home mom with two little kids running around I’ve gotten through about 7 days of it so far in 3 months! The nice thing is that you have access to the content for 2 years, so I can go back and look at past lessons, and go through the course on my own time. I really love what I have learned so far! Blogging is way more complicated than I thought it would be! Again, having access to their Facebook Groups that are specific to people in the Blogging Fast Track Course, and ones that are specific to help you with WordPress Issues are a huge help because they have technical experts to answer your questions and walk you through things! Through these courses, I’ve been able to have a community of other bloggers that have my back and can offer advice and encouragement.

If I was trying to do all of this on my own, I would have quit a long time ago, but because of the help I’ve received from their courses, and the ease of them walking me through everything, I’m really loving it and plugging away at my own speed. It is so fun to be able to share my ideas, thoughts, experiences, recipes, and passions online. I don’t have a huge following yet, but I know that as I work my way through the course and through their advice and lessons, I will improve that!
My biggest doubt when I started blogging was that no one would read my content. However, one of my good friends encouraged me a lot by telling me that even if the only people who read my blog are my children & grand-children (someday) :), how cool will that be for them to have a history of my life, stories, ideas, and thoughts while my kids were growing up! That is something that can’t be taken away from me and something that will be so special to them in the future.
Life can be overwhelming, and it is so easy to get bogged down with all of the negative content you find online. However, some of the most uplifting things I’ve read have come from posts or content that my friends have shared, or that I’ve found online. Something I love to do is to build up those around me and be an encouragement to them as well. So, my main goal and vision have been to create content that is encouraging to others and helps them to “bring up” or find joy in every area of life. Hopefully, it will continue to be an encouragement to my friends & family, and maybe even for someone, I don’t know yet!
Taking these two blogging courses has been a huge help to me and allowed me to dive so much deeper into making this something real that I enjoy and that I can share with others. The best part is that the first course is free, so there’s no harm in trying it out! If you’ve been dreaming of doing something like this for awhile I would encourage you to go for it!
Best of Luck! If you register let me know how it goes for you and where I can go to read your new content! 🙂
P.S. Here are those two links again if you don’t want to scroll back up. 😉
